WordPress
An open-source content management system for structured publishing, custom websites, and extensible digital experiences.
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) built with PHP and mySQL, reportedly the most popular on the Web.
WordPress is the world’s most widely used CMS — and still one of the best choices for content-driven corporate sites, marketing sites, and many online stores (via WooCommerce). At Outsourcify, we have shipped custom WordPress themes and complex WordPress builds for more than a decade, while also knowing when not to force WordPress into a problem that needs a custom app.
When WordPress is the right tool
WordPress shines when:
- editors need a familiar admin and media library
- the site is primarily pages, posts, landing content, and catalogs
- you want a large plugin ecosystem and affordable hosting options
- WooCommerce, LMS, membership, or directory plugins cover most of the product need
It is a weaker default when requirements drift into heavy custom business logic, complex multi-tenant SaaS, or deep operational workflows — those projects usually belong on Symfony or another application stack. We help you make that call early in discovery workshops.
How we build WordPress (Timber + ACF)
Many developers call WordPress “messy” because classic themes mix PHP and HTML and grow an unmaintainable functions.php. Our baseline for professional WordPress work is different:
Timber (Twig templates)
Timber introduces the Twig templating engine (from the Symfony ecosystem) so we can separate controllers (PHP) from views (Twig). That brings MVC-style discipline to WordPress theme code: cleaner templates, clearer data flow, and themes that are far easier to maintain and hand over.
Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
Default WordPress fields are not enough for real corporate content models. ACF (and ACF PRO fields such as repeaters, galleries, and flexible content) lets us define proper content structures: page modules, case-study blocks, team profiles, product data, and more — without hacking the database by hand.
Together, Timber + ACF is how we turn WordPress from “blog software with plugins” into a structured CMS suitable for agency-grade delivery.
Gutenberg blocks with ACF
For editorial flexibility, we register custom Gutenberg blocks backed by ACF field groups. Editors get block-based layouts in the WordPress editor; developers keep field definitions and Twig/PHP rendering under version control. That avoids fragile page-builder lock-in while still giving marketing teams autonomy.
Typical flow:
- Register a block (name, category, icon, ACF field group)
- Map fields in ACF (text, images, relations, flexible rows)
- Render the block in the theme with Timber/Twig or a dedicated template
Practical tip: searching ACF fields
WordPress core search does not always include custom fields. On content-heavy sites we implement search that also queries ACF meta (or a dedicated index) so users and admins can find content stored in custom fields — without bolting on an opaque third-party search plugin when a focused solution is enough.
What we deliver on WordPress
- Custom themes (never reselling generic marketplace themes as “unique”)
- Multilingual sites (WPML and related setups)
- WooCommerce stores and hybrid corporate + shop sites
- Membership, LMS, directory, and job-board style builds when plugins fit
- Headless WordPress frontends with Astro for performance-critical public sites
- Care, updates, and security hardening via software, app and website care
What sets our WordPress work apart
- Multi-disciplinary team — UX, UI, and PHP/JS developers in one Bangkok studio
- Discovery workshops — scope, UX, and technical constraints before code
- Visual-first process — structure, wireframes, design, then build
- Motion and polish — purposeful CSS/JS animation where it helps UX
- Custom themes — unique to the brand, not a thin skin on a mass theme
- Long track record — hundreds of WordPress sites and ongoing product work

WordPress is now powering 30% of all websites worldwide
All websites are built with the same technologies, those that run in the browser, which are HTML and CSS, the skeleton and styling of web pages. Many websites are actually static and directly built with those, other are dynamic and allow users to update their content through an admin panel, the content being saved in a database.
WordPress offers such an admin panel, it is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on the PHP programming language and MySQL database. The technologies it uses are simple and broadly available on most web servers, which makes it easy to install pretty much anywhere on the internet.
To paraphrase (supposedly) Churchill, though, “WordPress is the worst bogging system… except for all the others”, and there are reasons why WordPress is now powering 30% of all websites. and is reportedly the most popular website management or blogging system in use on the Web today, supporting more than 60 million websites.

A good choice for corporate websites
At Outsourcify, we tend to think they are some cases when it makes sense to use WordPress and sometimes it’s better to use an alternative solution, most likely a custom developed web application. WordPress is a good choice when it at the same time simplifies the development of the website and the eases its update by its final users. The main reason to use WordPress is it’s user friendly admin panel that allows users to add and edit content easily, especially it’s well conceived Media Library.
Another advantage is its notoriety which implies a large team that constantly improves WordPress with bug fixes, security updates and new features, a very large community of developers that creates plugins which cover countless features, and a large availability of great hosting options.
Examples of websites typically built with WordPress:
News and Magazine Websites: WordPress’s robust content management capabilities make it an ideal choice for news outlets and online magazines. Its user-friendly interface allows for efficient publishing and organization of articles, while plugins can enhance functionalities such as subscriptions and content monetization.
Community and Membership Sites: With plugins like BuddyPress and bbPress, WordPress can power community-driven websites, enabling features such as user profiles, forums, and social networking functionalities. This is particularly beneficial for organizations aiming to foster engagement among members.
Portfolio Websites: Artists, designers, and professionals can leverage WordPress to showcase their work through customizable portfolio themes. This allows for a personalized display of projects and achievements, enhancing online presence and visibility.
Nonprofit and Charity Websites: Nonprofit organizations can utilize WordPress to create informative websites that facilitate donations, event management, and volunteer sign-ups. The platform’s flexibility supports the integration of various fundraising and community engagement tools.
