MFU Life — University Operations Super-App

Mae Fah Luang University needed a dependable mobile entry point for the daily activities of students, instructors, staff and administrators. MFU Life brings academic records, campus services, communication and operational content together in a bilingual Flutter application for iOS and Android.

Instead of replacing the university's established systems, Outsourcify introduced a decoupled access layer. A Flask API gateway connects the app to MFU's central Management Information System and identity services, while a headless WordPress and WPML portal lets administrators manage localized navigation, content and announcements independently of mobile releases.

Results

4role-specific experiences for students, instructors, staff and administrators
2mobile platforms served from one Flutter codebase
2languages managed across the app and administration portal
One gatewayconnecting mobile users to SSO, MIS and managed content services

Challenge

A university-wide application has to simplify a fragmented environment without weakening the systems behind it:

  • Distributed information: schedules, exam seating, grades, payments, housing and academic records originated in different institutional systems.
  • Peak demand: registration, examination and result periods concentrate large volumes of requests into short windows.
  • Different responsibilities: students, instructors, staff and administrators each need a distinct view of the same campus ecosystem.
  • Bilingual operations: mobile content and administration had to remain consistent in Thai and English.
  • Authentication continuity: users needed to move between native features and existing university services without repeatedly signing in.

Solution

The Flutter client presents role-specific academic and campus workflows on both mobile platforms. Requests pass through a Python and Flask gateway that provides a controlled integration boundary between the app, MFU Portal SSO, central MIS APIs and content services. Headless WordPress with WPML acts as the localized administrative control plane. Students can review schedules, exam rooms and seats, grades, GPAX, payments, housing, scholarships and a virtual ID; instructors receive teaching, proctoring and advising views; and administrators can manage menus, permissions and targeted announcements. Authenticated WebViews extend the experience to registrar documents, petitions and course withdrawals while preserving the user's MFU session.
