WooCommerce is an open source e-commerce plugin for WordPress. It is designed for small to large-sized online shops. As stated on their website, WooCommerce powers over 28% of all online stores, which is not surprising as WordPress itself is used on a large percentage of website worldwide. Automattic, the company that created WordPress, acquired WooCommerce in 2015, it made sense being WordPress’ most popular e-commerce platform, and gives it even more stability as a large team of web developers now maintains the plugin.
The main draw to WooCommerce is obvisously the fact it is free and based on WordPress which many website owner and webmasters value as its a very widely used technology and thus there are lots of web developers and cheap hosting solutions available.
At Outsourcify, we have years of experience building online stores, we have used Prestashop, Magento and Shopify in the past, we are also often building a custom e-commerce solution for our customers, but WooCommerce is largely the one we have the most experience on.
