Wholesale Food Ordering App for Restaurant Teams
Daily supplier ordering, habitual lists and team roles for professional kitchens
Client
French foodtech startup

For a French foodtech startup, Outsourcify builds and maintains the mobile app that lets chefs and restaurant managers place their daily orders with wholesale food suppliers — replacing the ritual of late-night calls, texts and paper lists. The app is developed in Flutter for iOS and Android from a single codebase and connects to the client's backend through a GraphQL API.
Results
Challenge
Kitchen ordering is repetitive but unforgiving: the same core products every day, from several suppliers, often for several restaurants at once, ordered in a rush at closing time. The app had to make reordering near-instant while handling exactly who — admin, manager-chef or collaborator — is allowed to order what, and where. It also had to onboard busy restaurant staff in minutes, with no desktop and no password in sight.
Solution
We chose Flutter over React Native to maximize development velocity, with Firebase powering app hosting, deployment pipelines and analytics, and all data flowing through a GraphQL API built by the client's backend team. Algolia delivers instant product search across supplier catalogs, filtered by the categories each restaurant can access — with locked categories requestable from the sales team directly in the app. Sign-in uses SMS and email one-time codes, and new users register their restaurant through a Google Places-assisted signup flow. Borrowing Slack's workspace paradigm, users switch between their restaurants in one tap, governed by role-based access control — admins, manager-chefs and collaborators — with invite-by-phone onboarding that assigns roles automatically. An order cockpit tracks active shipments along their routes alongside order history and downloads, while usual lists turn the daily reorder into a few seconds' work. A document viewer surfaces the restaurant's administrative records — bank details (RIB), SIRET number and KBIS documents — and a built-in concierge channel connects teams to customer service. The app keeps evolving through evolutive maintenance packages of 48 to 60 hours.

One App, Every Restaurant and Role
A chef running several venues opens Kitchn to a workspace picker — each restaurant a tap away — borrowed straight from Slack's multi-workspace model, so orders always land under the right billing and delivery account. Behind each workspace sits role-based access control: admins, manager-chefs and collaborators get exactly the rights they should, with invite-by-phone onboarding that sends an SMS code and assigns the new user's role automatically. A collaborator can order; only admins and managers reshape the team.

Supplier Catalogs with Instant Search
Each restaurant sees only the suppliers ("Maisons") and categories it is cleared for — La Grande Crèmerie, Les Halles Trottemant, Armara and more — and locked categories can be requested from the sales team in a tap. Algolia powers instant search across the catalog, with filters, favourites and a history tab, while a B2B cart handles the realities of wholesale: units in pieces or cases, two-decimal kilogram precision and per-line comments. Product cards keep price, unit and reference visible so a rushed closing-time order stays accurate.

One-Click Reorder, Cart in Seconds
Kitchen ordering is a daily ritual, so Kitchn makes the repeat near instant: a "Commander en 1 clic" shortcut and a habitual list rebuild the usual order in seconds, with the delivery date and supplier fixed up front. The cart then confirms quantities — nudging the user to double-check anything that changed — attaches per-item and global comments, and sends the order through to the supplier via the GraphQL backend. Products of the moment sit alongside, ready to add.

An Order Cockpit and Every Invoice
After checkout, the cockpit tracks each order through its lifecycle — integrated, in delivery, completed — with delivery dates, suppliers and a claims shortcut, next to a full order history. A separate invoices and credit notes tab lists every document per restaurant and supplier, filterable by date, each downloadable as a PDF straight from the phone. Sign-in stays passwordless through SMS and email one-time codes, and a built-in concierge channel connects the team to customer service without leaving the app.
