B2B Trading Platform for the Canned Food Industry

Tropfin (Thailand) Co., Ltd. runs a B2B marketplace connecting industrial buyers with manufacturing factories across the canned fruits and vegetables ecosystem. Outsourcify architects and develops the platform's entire front-facing layer: four applications — Buyer, Seller, Broker and Backoffice — built with Nuxt.js on Symfony gateway APIs that translate data from CanBroker, the client's proprietary core ERP, without ever modifying it.

4stakeholder applications (Buyer, Seller, Broker, Backoffice)
5independent Symfony gateway APIs shielding the core ERP
6-digitpasswordless email OTP with impersonation support
USDmulti-currency prices normalized for comparison

Challenge

Global canned food trading runs on dense, slow-moving workflows: buyers fax or email enquiries, factories reply through brokers, and comparing offers across currencies, ports and shipment windows takes days. Tropfin needed to digitise this market without touching the business logic locked inside its production ERP — a strict "no-ERP-change" principle — while keeping factory visibility rules, private listings and verified-only results intact, and serving four very different stakeholder groups from one codebase.

Solution

We steered the platform from an initially monolithic concept into a decoupled gateway architecture: five frontend channels (login, buyer, seller, broker, admin) each pair with an independent Symfony gateway API that holds no raw business logic and forwards strictly filtered routes to backend security and user domains, with CanBroker remaining the single source of truth. Authentication is passwordless — a six-digit OTP by email — with backoffice impersonation so support staff can safely see exactly what a customer sees, and automatic IP blocking after five failed attempts in an hour. The Enquiry hub lets buyers broadcast product requests and compare seller offers to surface the best price, while the Factory Information module organises supplier profiles into five tabs and a season search maps harvest calendars, raw material intake and finished goods output per factory. Phase 1 was delivered in 2023, the trading and directory modules were signed off in May 2026, and the Buyers Market Watch List — a 5-step product wizard, an 8-parameter matching engine and multi-currency USD price normalization with table and graph views — is in active development.

One Secure Door for Four Applications

Every user — buyer, seller, broker or backoffice operator — enters through a central passwordless login: credentials trigger a six-digit one-time password delivered by email, and the session is issued by a dedicated security domain behind the gateway layer. Support staff carry a controlled impersonation permission that lets them authenticate "as a customer" to resolve issues in the exact interface the customer sees, while request tracking blocks any IP that fails five login attempts within an hour and feeds login activity into analytics.

The Enquiry Hub, a Digital Trading Floor

Module 1 turns scattered email-and-phone negotiations into a structured market. Buyers launch enquiries specifying product, packaging and shipment expectations; matched sellers reply with bids the buyer compares side by side — offer price, validity, payment terms, shipment terms, ports and windows — to isolate the Best Offer Price at a glance. Sellers track each enquiry's lifecycle from New through Offered to Expired, and in the current phase the Tropfin backoffice team curates the flow, entering offers received by email or phone into CanBroker.

Structured Enquiries Buyers Can Trust

Each enquiry is a compact contract-in-waiting: general information tracks the enquiry number, status, validity window, destination country and port, while dedicated tabs carry the product specifications and the commercial terms — shipment terms, payment terms and required certificates. Statuses flip between valid and invalid as validity dates pass, keeping both sides honest about what is actionable, and the gateway enforces CanBroker's visibility matrix so private listings stay restricted to their preferred buyers.

A Factory Directory Mapped to the Harvest

Module 2 is where buyers vet their suppliers. Factory profiles unfold across five tabs — factory info, products, certificates, terms and conditions, and seasons — and only verified manufacturers surface in results. The standout tool is season search: pick a raw ingredient and the grid maps each factory's production calendar month by month — high, regular, low or off season — alongside raw material intake per year, finished goods output and when the data was last updated. Next up: the Buyers Market Watch List, adding target-price radars, an 8-parameter matching engine and USD-normalized price tracking in table and graph views.
